Tetelestai!
The Good Friday Liturgy of the Lord's Passion at Infant Jesus Shrine was
presided over by Rev. Fr. Lancy Lewis. To help the congregation enter
more fully into this sacred mystery, each part of the liturgy was
preceded by a brief explanation, guiding worshippers through its
profound significance. Rev. Fr. Wilfred Rodrigues delivered a powerful
homily reflecting on Jesus' triumphant cry from the Cross - "Tetelestai"
("It is accomplished") - revealing how Christ's mission of redemption
reached its perfect fulfillment in this moment of apparent defeat. One
of the most moving moments came as the faithful processed forward to
venerate the Cross - some kneeling, others touching or kissing it - each
expressing in their own way both sorrow for Christ's suffering and
gratitude for the salvation it won. Following the reception of Holy
Communion (consecrated at the previous day's Mass), the congregation
departed in hushed reverence, their hearts united with the crucified
Lord as they awaited in hope the joy of Easter Resurrection. The entire
service beautifully captured the paradox of Good Friday - the day of
Christ's death that became the source of eternal life.
